cinnamon was seated by a shady tree waiting for the breeze to roll by she had everyone down on their hands and knees searching for a piece of her time now all the lonely people they couldn’t bear with seeing her frown and she never noticed yeah sure they could stop but they’d miss the pain of bending down everyday is the same as tomorrow and every tomorrow is yesterday’s news that’s cause we’re always singing the same old song i guess it’s time for something new cinnamon worked in a movie studio that’s where she fell in love with Joe how it happened I don’t know he was a boom operatah, a boom operatah they’re making a sequel with the same plot as the first only with different actors saying the lines if there’s anything i’ve learned he says it’s that only the weak survive joe left cinnamon later that month because he couldn’t pick her out in the crowd he couldn’t find her latte in the sea of frappucinos so he left her there to figure it out go on now Joe walk out the door don’t turn around now cause you’ll only cry you’ve got to pull out on that high road get yourself to kinkos and buy a box to think outside it was saturday in the car and joe was kicking his dust to the wind with the windows down the unfiltered air will take him wherever he’s never been all he had was this tune in his head but not knowing how to make it his and as he drives into the sunset every single station sings to him how ironic it is

i’m sitting down now putting pen to paper just trying to think of something else to say but instead of words come pictures like stills from a movie or reruns of an episode I’m trying to erase so I jot it down kind of sketch it out and it looks like the present I once knew wonder where my days have gone as it’s turning towards the dawn i know it’s time to move along but it’s dark after all is said and done I still end where I’ve begun yeah I wish that I could stop writing songs about you why do I bother there’s other fodder more relevant and pressing still to say there’s war and inaction and disaffection and ignorance and hatred and injustice to name away see I’ve tried it all tried to switch my mind’s track but it seems that all I got is only one wonder where my days have gone as it’s turning towards the dawn i know it’s time to move along but it’s hard after all is said and done I still end where I’ve begun yeah I wish that I could stop writing songs about you i better sew my mouth shut better hold my head up better go ahead and lock my heart away but I just can’t keep it down yeah it keeps breaking out and I’ve got no other choice but to let the gates give way so I’ll just give in even though it kills me in the meantime I’ve got page after page after page after page…… they say take it easy and spur me on i know it’s time to move along but I just can’t see yeah I know that there will be a melody suited more for me but for now I just can’t stop writing songs about you yeah I wish that I could stop writing songs about you yeah I’ll probably never stop writing songs about you

it’s warm warm enough not to be cold for fall you take my hand and we stroll along spread the blanket and reach with your eyes to the sky while all around us the children are playing in a slow motion sunday afternoon who knows how old is this general tso’s i found in my fridge you munch on focaccia i boughtcha at the farmers market i look at you and i wonder where you came from but you just laugh and sometimes our legs intertwine sunday afternoon sunny days sweeping those clouds away we’re on our way

Rabbit Hole 03:00
some day this will be funny we’ll look back and laugh how we humped just like bunnies now look at the problems we have yes we dug ourselves silly as we made our way through well it looks like I’m stuck in this rabbit hole with you how did we end up here I thought we were fine turns out you’ve got some issues and you can’t deal with mine see I hate the words you feed me you hate how loud I chew but it looks like I’m stuck in this rabbit hole with you i’d throw in my towel we don’t see the same way but underground dwellings aren’t selling well these days yes we dug ourselves silly with mud on each shoe so it looks like I’m stuck in this rabbit hole with you you know it’s a good thing we’re in here it’s starting to pour and I’ll show you my worries if you show me yours yes we’re in these close quarters but somehow we’ll make due well it looks like I’m stuck in this rabbit hole with you so where do you think I’m going I’ll give you one clue i’m going to bring the rest of my things back to this rabbit hole with you

thinking back to the way it all began that i already knew what i know now except blinded by possibility you took a chance yeah you went out of your way you showed your cards enough to make me stay you opened me up to a pretty little thing just as the fools rush in you won me over i was right where you wanted me to be but then you skipped town guessing I would figure it out and so you fade away brush off the rest of my heart with the back of your hand let’s say there’s no use in crying when it’s over the rest of my heart with the back of your hand let’s say everybody changes nothing lasts forever send it in a postcard write it in a letter so next time i hope you tell him at least when it’s over cause my door will be closed a while and i’m turning the key brush off the rest of my heart with the back of your hand let’s say there’s no use in crying when it’s over the rest of my heart with the back of your hand let’s say

Goodnight 03:05
this is where i say i have to leave you this is where we’ve both run out of time this is where you’ve always known it’s going so we wave our hands and say goodnight if i just had one more day to borrow you and i could watch the sun arise even though i know that thinking’s wishful don’t mind if i watch you say goodnight i’ll be gone and dreaming on the ocean while some other’s sure to cross your sight you should know that if another finds you darling please look back and say goodnight

Moving 05:30
they’re kicking bodies to the street i cover my face let every major man concede that i am so aimless get your hand away from me but I need your help it’s time to cash in all my chips i’m moving to the east side i’m trying hard to see sky i only need the free ride and i’m gone picking hearts up off the street it doesn’t make sense well everybody look at me i’m straddling fences doesn’t it hurt me on my seat you’d think that it would well how can i avoid these cookie cutters i’m moving to the east side i’m trying hard to see sky i only need the free ride and i’m gone everybody move your feet they’re kicking bodies to the street

about

In the summer of 2007, after earning an enthusiastic following performing live, Avi gathered a few of his band members in the sanctuary of the New Jersey synagogue where his father serves as rabbi to record this EP, “Avi Wisnia Presents:”. In 2 days, 7 tracks were recorded. The CD was released in the fall with sold-out shows at The Bitter End in NYC and The Tin Angel in Philadelphia.
